Choosing the correct first aid course

If you are unsure about which first aid course you need in order to become a confident first aider take a look through this article which will give you an overview and hopefully help you decide on what course is best for you.

Our first aid courses are ideal for those who wish to become a workplace first aider giving individuals the knowledge and skills they need in order to apply what they have learned in cases of emergency first aid situations.

The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course is aimed at low-risk jobs such as those who work in an office or small business environment, whereas the full First Aid at Work (FAW) course is aimed at high-risk jobs such as people working in construction.

This Emergency First Aid at Work training course is a one-day course and the certificate lasts three years. This course is designed for those who wish to become an emergency first aider in their workplace. Once the course is completed candidates will be ready to give safe and effective first aid in emergency situations. It will cover situations such as cardiac arrest, where immediate CPR is needed, as well as using an AED. Other emergency situations covered include choking, serious bleeds and burns.

The full First Aid at Work course is a three-day course where again the certificate lasts three years. The course is designed for those who would like to become a full first aider in their workplace. The course covers a range of topics      in-depth so that candidates can become a confident first aider and deliver first aid in any emergency situations. The course covers all the elements of the EFAW, but goes on to include trauma and medical emergencies.

Once the FAW certificate is nearing it's expiry date or has expired, first aiders can attend a First Aid at Work Requalification course over two days - only if the certificate is no more than 30 days past it's expiry date.

Despite the certificates lasting three years, we recommend a half day Annual Refresher to prevent skill fade, as well as keeping up to date with any changes.

White Rose Training deliver these courses at our Training Centre in Farsley, Leeds, or we can come to your business premises to deliver the course.
