The Emergency First Aid at Work plus Sports (EFAW + Sports) training course offered in Leeds, Bradford, and across Yorkshire caters to the specific needs of coaching assistants and leaders within the athletics community.

The approval of this course by UK Athletics as a [Category B] first aid training requirement underscores its importance within the sports industry, particularly for coaches and run leaders in Running Clubs.

Essential Skill for Coaches and Leaders: UK Athletics recognises first aid as an essential skill for all coaches and leaders involved in athletic activities. They emphasise the responsibility of coaches and leaders to maintain competency in first aid to ensure the safety and well-being of participants.

Mandatory Requirement: First aid training is mandatory for all new coaches and leaders entering the qualification pathway. It is a condition of the coach licensing scheme, highlighting its critical role in professional development and certification within the industry.

Category B Requirement: Category B designation applies to situations where coaches and leaders are delivering athletic activities without a first aider immediately available. In such cases, UK Athletics strongly recommends that coaches and leaders have an in-date first aid training certificate as a minimum standard

Response Time Considerations: The recommendation for first aid training is particularly emphasized in locations where the expected response time for help is between 10 and 30 minutes. This highlights the importance of coaches and leaders being prepared to provide immediate assistance in the absence of professional medical support.
