Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace Training Courses

The 1-day Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace training course builds on the foundation provided by the Mental Health Awareness course, offering a more comprehensive understanding of mental health issues in the workplace and equipping learners with the skills to act as mental health first aiders. Here's an overview of what this course entails:

Expanded Content

This course covers all the topics included in the Mental Health Awareness course, such as understanding mental health, recognising mental ill-health conditions, reducing stigma, and starting conversations about mental health.

Effects of Drug and Alcohol Misuse

In addition to the basic awareness topics, the Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace course addresses the effects of drug and alcohol misuse on individuals with reduced mental wellbeing. This includes understanding how substance abuse can impact mental health and exacerbate existing issues.

Understanding Common Mental Health Conditions

The course delves deeper into common mental health conditions, providing learners with knowledge about various disorders such as anxiety, depression, PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), and others. This understanding enables them to recognise symptoms and provide appropriate support.

Creating a Positive Mental Health Culture in the Workplace

Learners will explore strategies for fostering a positive mental health culture within the workplace. This involves promoting awareness, providing support mechanisms, and implementing policies that prioritise mental wellbeing.

Delivery Options

Similar to the Mental Health Awareness course, this training can be conducted onsite at business premises or remotely via Zoom, offering flexibility for participants to attend from various locations. Courses are also held throughout the year at our training centre in Farsley near Pudsey,  just off the ring road between Leeds and Bradford.

Benefits for Participants

By completing this course, participants gain the skills and confidence to act as mental health first aiders in their workplace. They learn how to provide initial support to colleagues experiencing mental health challenges, potentially preventing crises, and promoting overall wellbeing.

Further Training Opportunities

The course serves as a foundation for individuals interested in pursuing further training in mental health first aid or taking on roles such as supervising mental health first aid in the workplace. It provides a solid understanding of mental health principles and practices, laying the groundwork for continued learning and development in this area.

Overall, the Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace course offers valuable insights and practical strategies for creating a supportive and mentally healthy work environment while empowering participants to effectively respond to mental health challenges among their colleagues.
