First Aid at Work Training Courses


This three-day First Aid at Work (FAW) training course can be run at your premises in Leeds, Bradford or anywhere across Yorkshire. It generally covers higher risk workplaces and is therefore highly suitable for workplaces with larger number of staff and visitors.


Our onsite or open three-day First Aid at Work training courses meet the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 covering first aid emergencies and how to deal with them.


What will I learn?


  1. the importance of preventing cross-infection;
  2. the need for recording incidents and actions;
  3. use of available equipment;
  4. assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency;
  5. administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure);
  6. administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation and use of an automated external defibrillator;
  7. administer first aid to a casualty who is choking;
  8. administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding;
  9. administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock;
  10. provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters).


Additionally, administer first aid to a casualty with:


  1. injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including suspected spinal injuries
  2. chest injuries
  3. burns and scalds
  4. eye injuries
  5. sudden poisoning
  6. anaphylactic shock
  7. recognise the presence of major illness (including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes) and provide appropriate first aid.
